Henry Shefflin’s second league game in charge of Galway’s hurlers felt like a statement. Limerick, fresh from pulverising everything in sight the previous summer, were taken down in the Gaelic Grounds in a welter of excitement.
Gearóid Hegarty was sent off, and with that numerical advantage, Galway made for home, hitting seven unanswered points.
