Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session.

Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 5.00%), Karma Energy Ltd.(up 4.96%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(up 4.74%), Torrent Power Ltd.(up 2.58%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 1.00%) and Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(up 0.27%) stood among the top gainers.

Inox Wind Ltd.(down 10.46%), Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(down 5.00%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(down 4.30%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(down 4.26%), GE Power India Ltd.(down 3.86%), SJVN Ltd.(down 3.81%), Adani Power Ltd.(down 3.69%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 3.29%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 3.25%) and CESC Ltd.(down 2.88%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 44.3 points down at 22888.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 220.05 points at 75170.45.

Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.22%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.88%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.52%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 2.08%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.97%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.58%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 1.36%), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.8%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.74%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.71%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 2.18%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.62%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.46%), Coal India Ltd.(down 1.38%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 1.37%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.21%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.15%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.15%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.1%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.97%) closed in the red.
