LG&E IS MAKING PROGRESS IN THE EFFORT TO RESTORE POWER TO THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS FOLLOWING SUNDAY’S STORMS, AND WE FOUND THESE LG&E CREWS WORKING THIS MORNING ON SAINT GERMAIN COURT IN SAINT MATTHEWS. RIGHT NOW, JUST OVER 18,000 CUSTOMERS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY ARE STILL WITHOUT ELECTRIC AND ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH, AROUND 36,000 LG&E CUSTOMERS ARE STILL IN THE DARK. THIS AFTERNOON, LOUISVILLE MAYOR CRAIG GREENBERG IS URGING EVERYONE ONE TO SUPPORT THEIR NEIGHBORS. I JUST WANT TO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE. IF YOU HAVE SOME FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS THAT ARE WITHOUT POWER, PLEASE DRIVE BY, CHECK IN ON THEM, MAKE SURE THEY’RE DOING OKAY, SEE IF THEY NEED TO COME OVER TO YOUR PLACE OR HELP FIND THEM A PLACE SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE ELECTRICITY AND THAT THEY CAN HAVE EVERYTHING THAT THEY NEEDED UNTIL THEIR POWER IS RESTORED. AND WHILE THERE IS NO ESTIMATION FOR WHEN ALL THE POWER WILL BE BACK ON LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT IS LISTED AS THE ESTIMATED TIME OF RESTORATION FOR MANY LOCAL NEIGHBORHOODS. MEANTIME, GOVERNOR BESHEAR IS GETTING A FIRST HAND LOOK AT THE DAMAGE LEFT BEHIND BY SUNDAY’S STORM. THE GOVERNOR VISITED SEVERAL COMMUNITIES MONDAY AFTERNOON, INCLUDING BARNSLEY AND HOPKINS COUNTY. NOW THERE’S EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO HOMES AND BUILDINGS. BESHEAR WORKED TO GET RESIDENTS CONNECTED WITH PEOPLE LEADING RECOVERY OPERATIONS. PEOPLE HAVE GONE THROUGH THE WORST, SHOULDN’T HAVE TO DEAL WITH BUREAUCRACY, SO OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE IT AS SIMPLE AS WE CAN TO HELP THEM OUT, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY’RE STRUGGLING. Two days after severe weather throughout Kentucky and nearby states, nearly 20,000 people in Louisville are without power. According to LG&E, as of Tuesday at 3 p.m., 14,980 people in the Louisville area are still without power and 38,616 in Kentucky overall.There is no estimated time of total power restoration yet, but LG&E workers did call it "a multi-day restoration event."The damage caused by the storms initially affected about 120,000 LG&E and KU customers.Click here to see the map of current outages.
