Well, as we'd expected, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has comfortably claimed victory in the UK Charts this week after its launch on 23rd May 2024.
According to Chris Dring of GamesIndustry.biz, the game performed better than last year's Super Mario RPG release on Switch and has pretty much matched the last major Paper Mario game, Origami King.
Elsewhere, Hogwarts Legacy has climbed a spot to knock EA Sports FC 24 down a peg, while the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Minecraft all take their place within the top ten as usual.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is also performing well, particularly on Switch, likely due to various retail discounts to give it a nice boost.

Still the best Paper Mario of all! If only they'd get the series back on track and make a worthy sequel. An actual Turn based RPG with multiple party members. Not all these weird alterations of style every new game.
Love to see it, fingers crossed the same will happen for the Japanese charts (looking forward to those even more since they show the actual numbers)!
Other than that, happy to see Wonder still in the top 10 other than the usual suspects and several third parties like Unicorn Overlord, Sonic Superstars and The Lost Crown higher this week and selling well especially on Switch.
@Truegamer79 The dream for me has always been a new Paper Mario game that combines the best parts of both the old (battle gameplay, character variety etc.) and new ones (level design - although it has to be said that 64 is also pretty good when it comes to that -, visuals etc.) and even more so after seeing its potential in practice in the TTYD remake!
That seems like a great result considering digital sales have increased in the 4 years since Origami King was released and this was a remake of a 20 year old title.
A great game. Please stay on top of the charts.
These bubbles and especially the squeaky sound of each word prevented me from buying the game. It is 2024. They made a remake and failed. At least an option to disable bubble sound would have been nice, but in 2024 I would have expected better.
I think this has a chance of being the highest sold paper mario game ever . I really hope we get a proper sequel on the switch 2
I'm hoping TTYD has longer legs than TOK though. I really want them to make that proper return to form.

Fantastic to hear!! Here's hoping more people will buy this. It's a must have for EVERY Switch owner and we NEED to get Paper Mario to its original roots.
We do NOT want to have another entry into the false trilogy (2012 - 2020), now do we?
@Geit_de Do you have a fear of bubbles?
@Papery0shi Very true. We're long overdue for a true fourth game in the franchise (Or third, for some people)!
YES LETS GO!!! Glad people will finally have an opportunity to play this game! It is so good on Switch!
Also a bigger launch than the SMRPG remake? That’s pretty impressive since that came out during the holiday/pokemon slot. Great to see TTYD doing well!
