The Snowmass Club hosted the Snowmass Club Memorial Day Open Tennis Tournament, which brought tennis players from all over the valley to Snowmass Village for an intensive match for the holiday weekend. For the 1985 match, 13 events were held including men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

According to The Aspen Times, “The high level of play demonstrated by the finalists made spectators wonder how they would have fared against Aspen’s number one player, Kent Woodard, who did not enter the tournament this year.”

The winner of the men’s championship singles was Aspen Club Pro Mike White, men’s class A singles was Jon Miglionico (pictured) who outlasted Dick Vidal in a tough final. Women’s singles match was won by Glenwood’s Phyllis Zilm over local Adele Reid, and mixed doubles was won by the head of the Aspen Club Pros Lee Herzog with partner Jane Moy over their nemesis’ White and Reid.
