Trillion Energy International Inc. has started its operations program at the SASB Gas field, Turkiye, which is projected to last two months.
Operations are being conducted in several phases and involve seven or eight wells at the SASB gas field, including all six wells drilled/completed last year as well as a few older wells that have historically experienced water loading issues, the company said in a news release. The SASB field is in the Black Sea offshore Turkiye.
Approximately 54,134 feet (16,500 meters) of velocity strings, new well heads and other tangibles have been ordered and are being received at shore base next to the Akcakoca port on an ongoing basis, Trillion said. Service contractors have been engaged for perforations, well tractors, tubing running services, while marine vessels have been tasked with bringing the equipment 8.7 miles (14 kilometers) offshore.
Trillion said 49 meters of gas pay in four wells will be perforated starting mid-June, followed by initial velocity string installation in the AKK-3 well. Gas velocity strings, which restrict the amount of water entering tubing to prevent water loading, are expected to improve well performance for long-term stabilize production. June operations will occur on the Akcakoca platform including the Guluc-2, South Akcakoca-2, West Akcakoca-1 and Akcakoca-3 wells. The operation is estimated to be completed within 20 days.
In July, the company will begin a second set of operations involving the installation of gas velocity strings in six or more wells on the Akcakoca Platform and two tripods. Pump installation is anticipated in one or more older wells, which were not part of Trillion’s 2022-2023 drilling program, on an as-needed basis, it said.
In an earlier statement, Trillion said it intends to evaluate further exploration opportunities around the SASB development license area, which is currently 12,385 hectares. Trillion is currently mapping the reprocessed 3D seismic to determine and propose new exploration work programs in and around the SASB block. The new reprocessing technology improved the resolution of the seismic, defined new exploration targets, and delineated new potential reserves and resources on SASB.
Trillion Energy also entered into a farm-in agreement with Derkim Poliüretan Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. to earn a 50 percent working & revenue interest in three oil exploration blocks covering 151,484 hectares (374,325 acres) within the newly defined Cudi-Gabar petroleum province, Southeastern Turkiye.
The company said it is negotiating the joint operating agreement, which will trigger certain work commitments to Trillion over a three-year period.
Trillion Energy is focused on oil and natural gas production for Europe and Türkiye with natural gas assets in Türkiye. The Company is 49 percent owner of the SASB natural gas field, a Black Sea natural gas development and a 19.6 percent interest in the Cendere oil field.
