5 On Your Side gets fast fence fix

Marcia Dure turned to 5 On Your Side when she could not get answers about her fallen-down fence. Now it is picture perfect and ready for summer.

That wasn't always the case.

Dure bought the fence from Lowe's and had it fence installed in November 2022. She tells WRAL News that the installation wasn’t great, and she felt the fence was wobbly.

On Feb. 29, 2024, the fence’s durability was put to the test. The Triangle experienced strong rains, and the area where Dure lives in Durham was one of the hardest-hit places.

“We had gone away for a few days. When we came back, parts of the fence were shaking and some of it fell,” she said.

She tried for six weeks to get Lowe's to help. She tells WRAL that she went back and forth with Lowe’s, the contractor who installed the fence, and even the fence’s manufacturer.

“Long story short, we didn’t get anywhere,” she said.

Although her one-year warranty had expired, Dure believed the fence problems stemmed from a sub-par installation, so she turned to 5 On Your Side.

“I watch (WRAL) all the time, and I see what happens when (5 On Your Side) gets involved,” Dure explained.

Dure said she heard back from Lowe’s one day after 5 On Your Side contacted the business.

Customer service went from no answer to constant calls and check-ins.

“The customer service representative was calling me everyday. She was updating me. She gave me her direct line. It was unbelievable," Dure said. "That’s what I needed initially."

Within a few weeks, the fence was fixed, marking another 5 On Your Side solve in the books.
