SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Saratoga Bridges recently announced it has been awarded a significant amount of grant funding from NYSARC.
The nonprofit organization that supports people with disabilities in Saratoga County has been awarded $26,384 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services. The funding will be used to support Saratoga Bridges’s guardianship and recreation programs. The grants are part of NYSARC’s statewide funding of $2,697,508.
Saratoga Bridges’s guardianship program provides guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. The program currently provides guardianship support and services to 2 people and is ready to assist 4 more as a Standby or Alternate Standby guardian. $14,450 of the awarded grant funding will be put towards this program.
$11,934 will be used to support new recreational opportunities. Saratoga Bridges plans to use the recreation grant funds to support the educational, physical and artistic pursuits of the more than 500 individuals it services. Last year’s activities included pottery classes, yoga equipment, books for book clubs, cameras for photography club, plots at Pitney Farms community garden, and many more.
