A harrowing incident unfolded at Kinara Grand Hotel in Nagole, Alkapuri X Roads, Hyderabad, on Sunday, as a lift plunged from the fourth floor to the parking area, leaving eight individuals severely injured. The victims, all approximately 32 years old, including Veerabrahmam, Ravi Shanker Reddy, Manikanta Gupta, Manohar, Shajeed Baba, Kalyan Kumar, and two others, suffered significant bleeding injuries in the afternoon mishap around 3 pm.

Prompted by the commotion from the distressed guests, emergency services were urgently summoned to the scene. The lift’s doors had to be forcibly opened to facilitate rescue efforts before the injured were swiftly transported to Kamineni Hospital, LB Nagar, for urgent medical attention.

In response to this alarming incident, Nagole Police have initiated a criminal case against the hotel, citing negligence and inadequate maintenance of the lift. Investigations are underway to ascertain the degree of responsibility held by the hotel in this unfortunate occurrence.

This incident casts a spotlight on the broader issue of safety standards in hospitality establishments. Concurrently, authorities have been conducting rigorous inspections across various eateries and food outlets in the city, spearheaded by the Food Safety Department task force. Notable venues such as Rayalaseema Ruchulu, Rameshwaram Cafe, Kamat Hotel, and Hotel Sukh Sagar veg restaurant, along with bakeries and supermarkets, have undergone scrutiny to ensure compliance with food quality and safety regulations. However, the incident at Kinara Grand underscores the critical importance of maintenance protocols in ensuring the safety of patrons.
