Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty ended 24.65 points down at 22932.45, while the BSE Sensex closed 19.89 points down at 75390.5.
On the other hand, Ujaas Energy, Ashima Ltd, Finolex Cables, JohnsonCtrls Hitachi and M M Forgings stocks hit their fresh 52-week highs today.
In the Nifty 50 index, Divis Labs, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Adani Ports SEZ and LTIMindtree were among the top gainers on the NSE in the today's trade.
Meanwhile, Adani Ent., Wipro, Grasim Inds., ONGC and SBI Life were among the top losers of the day.
