Serra sprinter Mia Flowers and Carson hurdler Jayden Rendon each earned two medals and the Carson boys and girls track and field team finished with six medals overall Saturday in the CIF State championships at Buchanan High in Clovis.
The Colts’ girls 4×100 relay team of Taylor Johnson, Christina Gray and Tiffany and Kaitlyn Williams finished third with a time of 46.01 seconds, beating the time (46.20) they ran at the L.A. City Section finals.
Gray then finished seventh in the 100 (11.57), Lauren Williams was eighth in the shot put (41 feet, 2 1/2 inches) and Jerald Martin Evangelista finished seventh in the long jump (23-1/2).
The top nine finishers in each event received medals.
Rendon earned medals in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
He finished eighth in the 110 with a time of 14.31 and he was second in the 300 (37.59).
Flowers narrowly missed winning the 100. She ran a personal-best time but was edged by Mikaela Warr of Canyon Country Canyon’s time of 11.401 to Flowers’ 11.407.
In the 200, Flowers finished third at 23.87.
Wiseburn Da Vinci’s Olivia Griffin finished sixth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.40.
In the boys 800, Palos Verdes’ Alex Naehu finished in 1:51.93 for a sixth-place finish.
The St. Mary’s Academy 4×400 relay team finished eighth (3:52.54).
