Colin Murphy: Ireland is not full, but we do lack the capacity for common sense

Cartoon by Tom Halliday

One of my children came out of school last week talking about a song they had studied in history class, Kilkelly, Ireland. She found it on Spotify on her phone and played it in the car as we drove home. It was still playing as we arrived at the house, and I turned off the engine and we sat there in the car until it finished.

“Dad, are you crying?” she asked.
