Kerala’s cooperative banks, hospitals, and chit funds are increasingly targeted by foreign cyber-attacks, warn cyber intelligence experts, media reports say.
Many institutions, unaware of breaches, have already faced data thefts. Cooperative banks and chit funds, with vulnerable IT infrastructures, often outsource to incapable groups, making them easy targets for hackers from countries like China and Pakistan.
Hackers exploit these weaknesses using SQL injection, a common technique to steal data. Recently, Kerala’s major private chit fund and the Regional Cancer Centre faced cyber-attacks, highlighting the state’s growing cybersecurity challenges.
