Johnstown will soon have a new face at the helm of its police department after hiring Jeff Strosner of the Colorado Springs Police Department as its new chief of police.

Strossner will officially take over the role June 8, according to a town release. Strossner brings 28 years of law enforcement experience with him, including spending the past 15 years in leadership positions.

“Jeff Strossner’s extensive experience and proven leadership make him an excellent choice for our community,” Johnstown Town Manager Matt LeCerf said. “We are excited to welcome him to Johnstown and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our police department and the community as a whole.”

Strossner began his career with the Manitou Springs Police Department, serving a year as an officer before spending the past 27 years in Colorado Springs.

In his time with Colorado Springs police, he served as a detective, sergeant, Patrol Division lieutenant, Internal Affairs lieutenant, Falcon Patrol Division commander, Specialized Enforcement Division commander, Management Services Division commander and Training Division commander.

“I am deeply honored to join the town’s leadership team,” Strossner said. “Success in policing is built on the foundation community support. I look forward to creating community-based partnerships to keep our community safe and secure.”

Strossner holds a master’s degree in law enforcement and public safety leadership from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in security management from Bellevue University.
