'Loving aunt and great-aunt, matriarch of the family'

WATERTOWN – Mrs. Liliana (Orso) Guerrera, 95, of Watertown, entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital with loving family by her side. She was the widow of John Guerrera, who passed away March 8, 1989.

Liliana was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on Jan. 23, 1929, daughter of the late Carmine and Lucia (Rubbo) Orso. While in Italy she worked as an assistant to a midwife. She immigrated to Waterbury in 1965 and later to Watertown in 1974.

She worked at Mattatuck Manufacturing until her retirement in 1990. She was the matriarch of the family, helping and caring for many family members.

Liliana is survived by her nieces and nephews, Maria and Carmine Mancini, with whom she lived, Rosanna And Mario Sforza of Waterbury, Emilia Mian, Antonietta and Donato Cottone, all of Oakville, Rito and Celine Tozzi of Newington, Luigi Tozzi of Terryville, Roberto and Antonella Tozzi and Mauro and Caterina Orso, all of Italy; great-nieces and -nephews, Victor Mancini and Alessandro Mancini of Watertown, Tatiana Dupere of Longmeadow, Mass., Sabrina Osorio of Oakville, Paolo Tozzi of East Hampton, Alyssa Tozzi of Bloomfield, Gabriella Tozzi of Terryville, and Carmine Tozzi of Italy.

She was predeceased by a brother, Giuseppe Orso; a sister, Concetta Tozzi; and a niece, Italia Tozzi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Holy Disciples-St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown, at 10 a.m. Everyone attending is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. There are no calling hours.

Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Disciples Parish, 574 Main St., Watertown, CT 06795.
