Carson’s Jayden Rendon and Serra’s Mia Flowers advanced to Saturday’s CIF State Track and Field Finals in two events apiece.
The track finals are taking place at Buchanan High in Clovis.
Rendon finished fourth in Heat 1 of the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.11, one of top nine times to qualify him for the finals.
In the 300 hurdles, Rendon won Heat 2 with a time of 37.57 to qualify.
In the girls 100, Flowers won Heat 1 with a time of 11.65 to qualify. Carson’s Christina Gray was second in Heat 3 (11.58). Flowers also qualified in the 200, finishing first in Heat 2 (24.08).
Also, Palos Verdes’ Alex Naehu finished second in Heat 3 of the 800 with a time of 1:53.70 to qualify.
Carson’s girls 4×100 relay time won Heat 3 (46.10) to qualify.
In the girls 300 hurdles, Wiseburn’s Olivia Griffin ran a 43.03 in Heat 1 to finish third to qualify. Also, Carson’s Jerald Martin Evangelista qualified in the Boys Long Jump (23’8 1/4).
The field event finals begin Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and track finals get underway at 5:45 p.m.
