Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(up 6.05%), Bikaji Foods International Ltd.(up 4.05%), Honasa Consumer Ltd.(up 2.93%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(up 2.84%), Vadilal Industries Ltd.(up 2.09%), Heritage Foods Ltd.(up 1.51%), Patanjali Foods Ltd.(up 1.26%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(up 1.23%) and Emami Ltd.(up 0.84%) stood among the top gainers.

Dodla Dairy Ltd.(down 3.34%), LT Foods Ltd.(down 2.80%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.51%), Umang Dairies Ltd.(down 2.26%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(down 1.77%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.77%), Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd.(down 1.26%), Colgate-Palmolive(India)Ltd.(down 1.25%), Gillette India Ltd.(down 1.17%) and Jyothy Labs Ltd.(down 1.15%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 10.56 points down at 22957.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 7.65 points at 75410.39.

HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 1.65%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 1.13%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 1.06%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 1.03%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.76%), Coal India Ltd.(up 0.75%), NTPC Ltd.(up 0.72%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(up 0.6%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.58%) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.51%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.89%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.77%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.18%), ITC Ltd.(down 1.17%), Titan Company Ltd.(down 1.15%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.13%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.13%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.0%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.94%) and JSW Steel Ltd.(down 0.92%) closed in the red.
