Earlier this month, Franklinton High School announced the hiring of Mike Justice as its next head football coach. Justice has been at Franklinton for the past five seasons. He served as the JV head coach during the previous two seasons.

Justice started at Franklinton under Jimmy Williams and then continued under Elerod Morris, who stepped down earlier this offseason.

A graduate of White Oak High School in Onslow County, Justice started his coaching career at his alma mater. He coached under Jon Byrd, who was Justice's position coach in high school.

Justice graduated from Campbell University in 2014 and is also a 2017 graduate of the Elon University School of Law.

A statement posted to Franklinton High School's Facebook page on May 3 said, "He is passionate about FHS Football and mentoring young athletes to help them reach their full potential. His time and attention to the program, personal character, and vision for FHS Football were just a few of the reasons why he was selected to fill this important role and we are excited for Coach Justice and the future of Red Ram Football under his leadership!"

Franklinton is coming off of a 3-7 overall season in 2023. The Red Rams compete as a 3A program in the Big East 2A/3A Conference.
