Prospect baseball player Waylon Walsh is the Bay Area News Group’s boys athlete of the week for May 13-18.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Walsh finished with 40.74% of the votes. Leigh volleyball player Cooper Smith was second at 22.13%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Walsh was 3 for 3 and had six RBIs in Mitty’s 12-1 win over Burlingame in the Monarchs’ first round Central Coast Section Division I game. Walsh is batting .389 and has 19 RBIs this season.
