Lufthansa and its subsidiary Austrian Airlines are introducing three new routes to Lapland this winter. Lufthansa will initiate scheduled services from Frankfurt to Rovaniemi starting in November 2024, while Austrian Airlines will begin flights from Vienna to Kittilä and Ivalo in December 2024 and January 2025, respectively. Petri Vuori, Finavia’s SVP of Sales & Route Development, remarked, “The launch of these routes continues to propel the significant tourism growth Lapland has experienced in recent winters. These additional connections underscore Lapland’s global allure and reflect our effective collaboration with partners to enhance Finland’s accessibility.”
Lufthansa’s flights from Frankfurt to Rovaniemi will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 30 November 2024 until 29 March 2025.
Austrian Airlines will run weekly flights from Vienna to Kittilä and Ivalo: Kittilä flights are scheduled for Sundays from 8 December 2024 to 16 March 2025, and Ivalo flights for Saturdays from 25 January to 1 March 2025.
Additionally, Austrian Airlines will continue its Vienna-Rovaniemi route, initiated in December 2023, through the next winter. These flights will occur weekly on Saturdays, supplemented by an extra flight on Wednesdays.
