NOW YOUR WLKY WEATHER WITH CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JAY CARDOSI. ALL RIGHT, RAINFALL. LET’S TALK ABOUT IT OFFICIALLY IN LOUISVILLE AS WE LOOK AT THE MONTH OF MAY AND REALLY THE YEAR AS WELL. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, WE ARE A LITTLE BIT BELOW AVERAGE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY. WE’VE HAD 3.7IN OF RAINFALL. THAT’S ABOUT 15/100 OF AN INCH OF RAIN BELOW AVERAGE FOR THE YEAR. JUST OVER 19IN. BUT THAT’S NEARLY AN INCH BELOW AVERAGE. AND AS YOU KNOW, YOU GO OUTSIDE AND YOU WALK AROUND THE BACKYARD, ESPECIALLY WITH THE HEAT WE’VE HAD THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS, IT DOESN’T TAKE LONG TO DRY THINGS OUT. SO A LITTLE BIT OF WATER FROM MOTHER NATURE WOULD CERTAINLY BE NICE RIGHT NOW. THERE’S NOTHING SHOWING UP AROUND THE METRO. THE CLOUDS ARE THICKENING. THERE IS GOING TO BE A CHANCE, A CHANCE FOR A FEW SCATTERED STORMS AS WE ROLL THROUGH THIS EVENING. MIGHT BE A SPRINKLE OR TWO JUST NORTH OF SHEPHERDSVILLE, BUT BY AND LARGE IMMEDIATE AREAS AROUND THE METRO ALSO DRY. THEN YOU GET DOWNSTATE KENTUCKY AND QUITE A BIT OF HEAVY RAINFALL. THUNDER, LIGHTNING, SOME GUSTY WINDS, ESPECIALLY FROM NEAR HART COUNTY WHERE WE HAVE LIGHT RAIN LEFT OVER. AND THEN YOU GET INTO THAT THUNDER AND LIGHTNING NEAR COLUMBIA AND POINTS OFF TO THE SOUTH. THERE’S ANOTHER BATCH OF STORMS BLOWING UP SOUTH OF OWENSBORO. SO AGAIN, AS EVERYTHING MOVES EAST SLIGHTLY NORTH OF EAST WILL EVENTUALLY GET INTO SOME CHANCES FOR SOME SCATTERED STORMS. EVEN HERE IN THE METRO, AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING. RIGHT NOW IT’S CLOUDY AND IT’S ON THE MUGGY SIDE. MY GOODNESS, YOU WALK OUTSIDE. FEELS LIKE THE MID PARTS OF SUMMER WHERE 83 DEGREES. BUT LOOK AT THAT DEW POINT 67 DEGREES. SO THE FEEL-LIKE IS UP AROUND 86 WITH A SOUTH SOUTHWESTERLY BREEZE AROUND TEN MILES AN HOUR. ALL RIGHT, HERE’S THE BIG PICTURE. YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE BLOW UP OF STORMS HAS BEEN THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THIS DAY. MAINLY SOUTHERN KENTUCKY, WESTERN KENTUCKY, ON INTO PORTIONS OF TENNESSEE AND THEN ANOTHER BLOW UP HERE IN SOUTHWESTERN ARKANSAS. AND THAT’S WHERE THERE’S AT LEAST THE RISK RIGHT NOW FOR SOME SEVERE WEATHER WITH SOME SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. WATCHES TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST OF US. I AM NOT EXPECTING WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER AROUND HERE, BUT 1 OR 2 STRONG CELLS CANNOT BE RULED OUT. CERTAINLY, AS WE ROLL THROUGH THE EVENING, A WEAK FRONT JUST NORTH THAT WILL CONTINUE TO SAG IN HERE. THAT’S WHAT WILL GIVE US THE CHANCE FOR THESE SCATTERED STORMS. HERE’S 6:00 THIS EVENING. NOTICE FROM NEAR TOWN AND POINTS OFF TO THE SOUTH. THAT CHANCE FOR SCATTERED STORMS. WE QUIET DOWN AROUND MIDNIGHT THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT AND THEN WAKE UP TOMORROW MORNING TO YET ANOTHER CHANCE FOR A FEW SCATTERED STORMS, MAINLY SOUTH OF THE METRO. AND GUESS WHAT? AS WE MOVE THROUGH TOMORROW EVENING, YET ANOTHER CHANCE BOTTOM LINE KEEP THE UMBRELLAS HANDY BECAUSE OCCASIONALLY BOUTS OF IMPACT WEATHER IN THE FORM OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS ON THE WAY, NOT ONLY TOMORROW BUT AGAIN ON FRIDAY. HIGH TEMPERATURE AND THE LOW AND MIDDLE 80S. LET’S TALK. LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND NOW. SATURDAY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. 86 SUNDAY WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO WATCH. SHOWERS AND STORMS ARE LIKELY SOME OF THE STORMS LATE IN THE DAY AND SUNDAY EVENING COULD BE STRONG TO SEVERE. WE’LL KEEP YOU POSTED. MEMORIAL DAY LOOKS QUIET WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES CLOSE TO 80. AND THEN EARLY NEXT WEEK, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY A LITTLE COOLER. WE’RE BACK IN THE 70S WITH A SHOWER CHANCE, ESPECIALLY TUESDAY. SO MORAL OF THE STORY. KIND OF UNSETTLED THE NEXT TWO DAYS. HOLIDAY WEEKEND A LOT OF DRY TIME. OKAY, IF THERE’S A STORM THREAT OVER THE HOLID
