Division 5-AA: (4) St. Joseph Academy (5-14) vs. (2) Chula Vista Learning Community Charter (14-16), 4 p.m.
Preview: Upstart St. Joseph Academy from San Marcos is the surprise team of the bracket. After beating Ocean View Christian in the opener 12-7, the Crusaders upset top-seeded Bonsal 3-2 and 9-6 to advance to the final. ... Chula Vista Learning Community Charter outscored their opponents so far in the playoffs 49-6 downing Warner once and Julian twice. Freshman Alana Olivas (.475) and junior Bibi Delgadillo (.441 average) lead the Cobra attack... The Cobras beat the Crusaders 19-4 in an early March match-up.
Division 3: (3) Sage Creek (21-9) vs. (5) Oceanside (21-6-1), 7 p.m.
Preview: Oceanside is streaking, winning 11 of the last 12 games since losing to Sage Creek 4-1 on April 24. The Pirates’ only stumble was a 1-0 loss to Escondido Charter in their playoff opener. They came back to beat the White Tigers 4-1 two games later. Oceanside forced Wednesday’s “if-necessary” game by downing Mission Vista 7-2 on Tuesday. The 12-5 win on Wednesday was the fourth time they beat the Timberwolves this year. Sage Creek won two of three matchups with Oceanside this year.
