    What's the story

Royal Challengers Bengaluru were knocked out of IPL 2024 after Rajasthan Royals defeated them in the Eliminator. RCB couldn't defend 172 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. With this, Dinesh Karthik's IPL career came to an end. Although Karthik didn't give an official statement, it was earlier reported that the 2024 season will be his last. Here are his notable records and stats.

    Seasons

Karthik featured in inaugural IPL season

Karthik is among only seven players to have featured in every season of the IPL since the inaugural edition in 2008. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha, and Manish Pandey are the others on this elite list. As per ESPNcricinfo, Karthik has missed just two matches in 17 seasons. He debuted with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

    Franchises

    Karthik played for six franchises

Karthik represented RCB across stints in the IPL. He represented the Challengers in the 2015 competition as well. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has been a part total six IPL teams - Delhi Capitals (2008-2010, 2014), Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings: 2011), Mumbai Indians (2012-2013), Gujarat Lions (2016-2017), Knight Riders (2018-2021), and RCB (2015, 2022-2024).

    Appearance

    Joint second-most appearances in IPL

Karthik played 257 matches in his IPL career, the joint second-most by a player with Rohit. The duo is only behind Dhoni, who has been a part of 264 IPL games. Karthik finishes with 4,842 runs, presently the 10th-most in the IPL. He has 22 half-centuries to his name. The Indian batter maintained a strike-rate of 135.36 in his career.

    Information

Second-most wins as captain for KKR

Karthik led KKR in 37 matches between 2018 and 2020. He notched up 19 wins, the second-most as a KKR skipper after Gautam Gambhir (61). Shreyas Iyer, who recently led KKR to the final, is just behind Karthik with 16 wins.

    Dismissals

    Over 100 wicket-keeping dismissals

Karthik is one of only three players with over 100 wicket-keeping dismissals in the IPL. He has the second-most dismissals in this regard (174), only behind Dhoni (190). Karthik remains the only player other than Dhoni to have affected over 35 stumpings in the tournament. The former has 37 stumpings compared to Dhoni's 42. Robin Uthappa follows Karthik with 32 stumpings.

    Feats

    Other notable feats of Karthik
