    What's the story

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently gave a shoutout to the song Ghar More Pardesiya from the 2019 period romance film Kalank. The song, featuring Alia Bhatt, was shared on The Academy's official Instagram handle on Thursday morning. The caption read, "Alia Bhatt performing Ghar More Pardesiya (vocals by Shreya Ghoshal with Vaishali Mhade) from the film Kalank. The song was choreographed by Remo D'Souza.

    Reactions

Fans praised Bhatt's performance and Ghoshal's vocals

The post sparked excitement among fans and cinephiles, who praised Bhatt's dancing skills in the comments section. One Instagram user wrote, "Alia Bhatt's performance has been spectacular in every movie she's done." Ghoshal's vocals also received high praise, with one user commenting, "I think The academy is a big fan of Shreya Ghoshal." To recall, in April, The Academy had shared a clip of Deepika Padukone performing Deewani Mastani, another Ghoshal song.

    'Kalank'

'Kalank' was a critical and commercial dud

Kalank, directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, was a dud despite a star-studded cast ensemble and a soundtrack for the ages, composed by Pritam. The Academy's recognition of the film, now, however, has sparked various reactions among fans. One user expressed surprise saying, "DAMN! Kalank made it to the Academy." The film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and also starred Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, and Sanjay Dutt.

    Upcoming project

Bhatt's next projects are 'Jigra' and 'Love & War'

Bhatt continues to make strides in her career and will be seen next in Vasan Bala's directorial Jigra, co-starring Vedang Raina. The film is produced by her frequent collaborator Dharma Productions and Bhatt's Eternal Sunshine Productions. It is set to hit theaters on September 27. She is also set to reunite with her Gangubai Kathiawadi director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love & War, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
