Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(up 8.44%), Emami Ltd.(up 4.60%), Future Consumer Ltd.(up 4.55%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(up 2.88%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(up 2.81%), Dabur India Ltd.(up 2.72%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare Ltd.(up 2.54%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 2.44%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 2.42%) and Marico Ltd.(up 2.13%) stood among the top gainers.

Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd.(down 4.43%), Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(down 3.23%), Dodla Dairy Ltd.(down 2.53%), Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd.(down 1.68%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.63%), Vadilal Industries Ltd.(down 1.58%), Adani Wilmar Ltd.(down 1.04%), ADF Foods Ltd.(down 0.98%), Patanjali Foods Ltd.(down 0.90%) and Hindustan Foods Ltd.(down 0.78%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 68.75 points up at 22597.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 267.75 points at 74221.06.

Cipla Ltd.(up 2.78%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 2.44%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 2.42%), Coal India Ltd.(up 2.26%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 1.73%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 1.71%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.61%), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.44%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 1.2%) and ITC Ltd.(up 1.18%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 1.54%), State Bank of India(down 1.44%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 1.35%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 1.31%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.15%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.03%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.92%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.88%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 0.83%) and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 0.75%) closed in the red.
