Bayer Leverkusen head into Wednesday's Europa League final having been crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time in history, going the entire season unbeaten following their 2-1 win over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon in the final league game of the season.

Xabi Alonso's side remain undefeated in all competitions this campaign, with Wednesday's match also offering their second piece of silverware this season out of a potential treble, with a DFB Pokal final against second tier Kaiserslautern also to play this weekend.

The German champions have won four of their last five matches in all competitions, the only draw in that time coming their semi final second leg with Roma, when they were already two goals to the good from the first leg.

Atalanta reached their first ever European final by initially finishing top of Group D ahead of Sporting Lisbon, Sturm Graz and Rakow Czestochowa, before beating three European heavyweights in the knockout stage, seeing off each of Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool and finally Marseille to book their ticket to Dublin.

Victory in the Irish capital would be just the club's second ever major trophy, and their first since 1963, when they lifted the Coppa Italia.

The two sides have met before on just two occasions, coming in the Round of 16 of this tournament just two seasons ago, with the Gasperini's Atalanta side winning home and away before losing to another German side, Leipzig, in the last eight.
