Since its inception in 2016, the adult site OnlyFans has exploded into an X-rated social media phenomenon and an industry leader worth billions.

As women around the world quit their day jobs to make the equivalent of their annual salary in considerably less time, the adult-flavoured content that dominates OnlyFans has raised concerns and questions along the way.

The surface may be incredibly photogenic, but what lurks beneath is decidedly sinister, as ruthless con artists exploit the system – and the models who power it.

Users of the platform may think they're chatting to the woman of their dreams via the OnlyFans direct messaging system. But the reality is that many lonely men are being duped as they spend more and more money in an endless void.

Today, on the Indo Daily, Fionnán Sheahan is joined by Sophie Peachey, assistant news editor and correspondent with The News Movement, to discuss the dark art of deception that is the underground network of OnlyFans “chatters”.
