SEATTLE, Wash. — The Orlando Pride defeated the Seattle Reign 3-2 on Sunday night to win their seventh game in a row.

The victory streak tied a National Women's Soccer League record for the consecutive wins held by the 2014 Reign.

What You Need To Know

  • The Pride edged the Reign 3-2 on Sunday in Seattle

  • The victory was the seventh in a row for Orlando, tying a record set by Seattle in 2014

  • Barbra Banda scored two goals, one in each half, for the Pride

  • Defender Emily Sams scored Orlando's first goal

Defender Emily Sams, who Orlando acquired in the 2023 NWSL Draft, got the scoring started in the 9th minute, taking a ball that rolled out of the top of the box and sending it to the back of the net past Reign goaltender Lauren Ivory. The goal was the first of Sams' NWSL career.

"As a defender, we take a lot of pride in keeping the goals out so it was kind of fun to be on the other side of it, and my goal to be the first one on scoresheet," Sams said. "And then, it being my first goal, it was just a lot of fun.”

Forward Barbra Banda made it 2-0 in the 18th minute. Adriana was played down the right side of the field, sent a cross to the back post from the end line, and it found Banda's head for the goal — the first goal of a brace for Banda.

Seattle tied the score, with goals by Angharad James-Turner in extra time in the first half and Bethany Balcer in the 48th minute.

Banda completed the brace and captured the victory with a goal in the 58th minute. The score came after a corner kick by Marta bounced around in front of the net and ended up near Banda, who fired the ball into the net with her right foot.

Banda's goals marked her fifth and sixth of the season in six games played.

"It’s something we talked about last year, picking up more points away from home," Pride coach Seb Hines said. "I thought the first 43 minutes of the game we were really good. I thought we played some terrific football, played some good lines, caused Seattle a lot of problems. And to concede so late on in the first half is something that we need to reflect and review moving forward. The second half, it was a grind. It was great determination, getting through that adversity, as well, [after] conceding so early in the second half to come back and get that third goal was really important for us."

The Pride's next game is at 7 p.m. Friday at Inter&Co Stadium against the Portland Thorns.
