Fatal crash: 21-year-old passenger ejected from Jeep on I-85 in Durham County, driver charged

One person is dead and another charged with Misdemeanor Death and Careless and Reckless Driving after a crash closed part of I-85 southbound for several hours early Sunday morning.
Durham police responded to the fatal crash around 5 a.m. near the Orange County line.
Eduardo Garcia, 23, of Hillsborough, was traveling south on I-85 when he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road to the right. He then over corrected back onto the highway, causing the vehicle to overturn and flip several times.
The passenger 21-year-old, Kevin Bautista-Felicitos, of Durham was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and charged with Misdemeanor Death and Careless and Reckless driving.
As a result of the crash, I-85 southbound was shut down for approximately four hours. The highway has since reopened.
