Mauricio Pochettino says that he enjoyed dinner with Todd Boehly on Friday night amid the uncertainty over his future at Chelsea.

The Argentine boss has come under scrutiny at times over the campaign with results at Stamford Bridge leaving much to be desired.

However, a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in their last Premier League game of the season ensured that the Blues finished the campaign in a more respectable sixth place.

As a result, Chelsea will be definitely be playing in Europe next term with a Europa Conference League spot confirmed, while it could turn into a Europa League spot if Manchester City beat Manchester United in the FA Cup.

While European football is confirmed it's yet to be seen if Pochettino will be the man leading them into next season, but speaking after the season finale, Pochettino hinted that he hopes to have done enough to stick around.

Asked about an end-of-season meeting with the owners, he said: "I don't know if that is going to happen or not. I don't have any idea about this.

"All I can tell you is on Friday night, Todd invited me for a dinner and it was a very nice dinner together. But I don't know about the rumours about the review.

"My staff tomorrow are flying for their holidays. I am going to stay in London for a few more days.

"I am always open. My phone is going to be on."

Asked what they discussed at dinner, Pochettino said: "I am not going to explain. It is only for you to know that I was with him. I'm not going to talk about this.

"If I invite you along, and you and me have dinner, it's not for bad things. I don't believe that."

Chelsea rounded off their strong end to the 2023/24 season with a 2-1 victory at home to the Cherries.

They took the lead through arguably their goal of the season as Moises Caicedo incredibly found the net from the halfway line.

Raheem Sterling doubled their lead shortly after the break but the away side reduced the deficit when Benoit Badiashile turned the ball into his own net but Chelsea held on for the win.
