A teenager has been hospitalised after being stabbed at a Dublin Luas stop, with gardaí now investigating.
The youth was seriously injured after being stabbed at Jervis Street Luas Stop in north Dublin city centre.
A garda spokesperson said: “Shortly after 4pm on Sunday, May 19, gardaí were alerted to an incident on Liffey Street.
“A male in his late teens was injured during the incident and was found on Jervis Street. He was transported by ambulance to the Mater Hospital.
“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The scene was examined by local scene of crime officers and Jervis Street has since fully reopened to traffic.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station at 01 666 8000 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.”
The area has been cordoned off for a forensic examination. Luas operators said the Red Line between Smithfield and The Point/Connolly was suspended for a period but has since reopened.
Blood was being washed away as people walked by the scene this evening.
