With a 4.2 cumulative grade-point average at Steamboat Springs High School, Alena Rossi was named Student of the Month for May by the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs.
“Alena has established herself as a valuable student, mentor and leader at SSHS who excels in a variety of school activities and rigorous courses including several AP classes and dual credit courses,” Alena’s high school counselor Lara Sigmon said in nominating Rossi for the honor.
Rossi also serves on the Integrated Community team as an intern and is a member of the Routt County Teen Council, where teens learn about drug prevention and the effects of drug use and receive training in administering Narcan in emergency situations.
Rossi also participates in 4-H and has been a member of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club for 12 years where she trains in the Nordic skiing discipline for more than 500 hours each year.
Rossi plans on pursuing degrees in civil engineering and math from Colby College in Maine after graduation later this month.
