CHESHIRE – Margaret “Peggy” (Thompson) Noel, 87, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Elim Park in Cheshire. She was the loving wife for more than 55 years of the late Roland E. Noel, who passed away in 2015.

Peggy, a longtime resident of Middlebury, was born in Northbridge, Mass., on July 20, 1936, a daughter of the late William Joseph and Christina (MacDonald) Thompson. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and later attended Post University, receiving her bachelor’s degree.

Peggy and her husband, Roland, were past members of the Waterbury Country Club. They enjoyed spending time at their home in Naples, Fla., and playing golf together, but they most enjoyed spending quality time with their family.

Peggy was a longtime parishioner of St John of the Cross Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed hearing the organ played to the fullest. Peggy was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, and created fantastic photo album scrapbooks of both her travels and family.

Peggy is survived by her three loving sons, Peter Noel and his wife Lucia, of Middlebury, Philip Noel and his wife Michelle, of Newington, and Bill Noel and his wife Laura, of Charlotte, N.C. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren, Sara, Mike, Niki, Katie, Becky, Zack, and Joe; and one great-grandson, Casey (with two more great-grandchildren on the way); her sister, Dorothy “Dot” McCuistion and her husband Michael, of Garden Grove, Calif.

A Mass of Christian Burial with the cremains present will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024, at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury. Family and friends wishing to attend the Mass for Peggy are asked to meet directly at the church on Saturday. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday, May 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.

Donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to: St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury, CT 06762.
