The D.C. State Athletic Association girls’ lacrosse tournament holds unusual value for its participants.

Oftentimes, a state title is not a primary goal for the area’s best private schools as they spend the spring focused on winning a conference crown. But this year’s DCSAA championship, played Sunday at Catholic University’s Carlini Field, featured two teams that had recently lost in their conference tournaments: Georgetown Visitation and St. John’s.
