A pub in Kidlington has raised more than £1,750 for a foundation set up in memory of an Oxford United legend.

The annual Aunt Sally Tournament and Family Fun Day, held on May 4 at the Six Bells, raised funds for the Joey Beauchamp Foundation.

The foundation is a newly established charity dedicated to supporting mental health and associated social issues within the community.

Named in honour of former Oxford United player Joey Beauchamp, the foundation aims to raise awareness, and offer support and community engagement.

It is working in partnership with Oxford United Football Club and Oxford United in the Community, the club’s charitable arm.

Speaking on behalf of the Joey Beauchamp Foundation, Luke Beauchamp said: "It was truly remarkable, blessed with favourable weather and a deep sense of unity.

"Witnessing the enthusiastic turnout and collective effort to support the foundation was deeply heartening."

Aunt Sally is a traditional English game in which players throw sticks or battens at a ball, known as a 'dolly', balanced on top of a stick.

Event organisers Freddy Sawyer, Stuart Wells, and Mark Oliver were commended for their support as Mr Beauchamp thanked the Aunt Sally community.

The funds raised will help to address mental health challenges within the community.

Mr Beauchamp added: "Your unwavering support not only strengthens the foundation's capacity to effect positive change but also underscores the collective resolve to prioritize mental well-being within our community."
