The 1A and 3A N.C. High School Athletic Association track & field state championships have been postponed due to the threat of severe weather on Saturday.

N.C. A&T is hosting the state championship track meets this weekend, with 2A and 4A classifications underway on Friday. However, due to the inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday, the association has moved the 1A and 3A championships to Monday.

Rain and storms are expected overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. There is a threat of severe weather on Saturday afternoon, including strong winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes.

On Thursday, the NCHSAA announced that the dual-team tennis state championships would be postponed to Monday as well. The dual team championships were scheduled for Saturday in Burlington.

2A and 4A track & field state championships will continue on Friday and should conclude later in the day on Friday.
