Lacrosse state championship schedule set for this weekend in Durham

Both the boys and girls lacrosse state championships will be played at Durham County Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

The matchups and schedule for the N.C. High School Athletic Association boys and girls lacrosse state championships are now set.

Champions will be crowned this weekend at Durham County Memorial Stadium. The 4A championship games will be played on Friday, with the 1A/2A/3A championships on Saturday.

Union Pines defeated Croatan in the 1A/2A/3A girls lacrosse eastern regional championship on Wednesday evening, the final lacrosse state semifinal to be played. The Vikings will face Bishop McGuinness in the state championship game on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The Villains, the top seed in the western region, defeated Community School of Davidson 14-7 in the regional championship on Tuesday night.

On Monday evening, Orange defeated Croatan 14-9 to advance to the 1A/2A/3A boys lacrosse state championship game for the first time in school history. The win came after the Panthers fell in the eastern regional championship in back-to-back seasons.

Orange will face Lake Norman Charter in the championship game on Saturday at 2 p.m.. On Tuesday evening, Lake Norman Charter defeated Bishop McGuinness 16-8 on the road. Lake Norman Charter has won the last two 1A/2A/3A state titles, beating Northwood last season and First Flight in 2022.

The 4A boys lacrosse state championship game is also set, scheduled to be played on Friday at 8 p.m. Green Level defeated Cardinal Gibbons in the eastern regional championship on Tuesday to advance to the boys lacrosse championship game for the first time in school history. It marked the second time this season the Gators beat the Crusaders.

Green Level will face Lake Norman in the championship game, another team the Gators beat this year. Lake Norman won the western regional championship 13-11 over Marvin Ridge on Tuesday night. This marks the sixth appearance in the state championship for Lake Norman. The Wildcats have won two boys lacrosse state championship games.

The Cardinal Gibbons girls lacrosse team will have a chance to win its third straight girls lacrosse state championships when it plays in the 4A championship game on Friday at 5 p.m.. The Crusaders beat Chapel Hill 14-9 in the eastern regional championship game on Tuesday afternoon. Cardinal Gibbons has won six girls lacrosse state championships in school history, more than any other program.

Charlotte Catholic will be the opponent for Cardinal Gibbons. The Cougars defeated Weddington 8-7 in the western regional championship game on Tuesday night. This will be the third straight year the two teams have met for a girls lacrosse state championship.

Both the boys and girls lacrosse state championships will be played at Durham County Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday. Here is the schedule:
