Marcus Rashford appeared irked by comments from a Manchester United fan during the pre-match warm-ups on Wednesday night.

In footage shared on social media, a supporter in the bottom tier of the Stretford End appeared to shout something towards him.

Rashford cut a confused figure as he partook in the warm-ups with his teammates before walking towards the fan and responding.

It's unclear what was being said but a pitchside steward waved his hand at the supporter as if to tell them to calm down.

Another clip shows Christian Eriksen and Antony seemingly telling Rashford to walk away from the stand amid the confrontation.

He then walked towards the centre of the pitch at Old Trafford ahead of kick-off in a crucial fixture for United, which saw them face Newcastle.

Both they and Newcastle are fighting for the final European spots along with Chelsea, who are in action against Brighton.

United took the lead on 31 minutes through Kobbie Mainoo, his fourth goal of the season.

Newcastle equalised in the opening moments of the second-half through Anthony Gordon but Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund both netted to restore the host's lead, with Lewis Hall making it 3-2 late on.

European qualification would come as a welcome finish to United's season, one that has fluctuated since the opening day.
