Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has announced that it will again remain open into June, making for what is likely to be the longest-running ski season at any resort in Colorado this year.

A-Basin still has not announced an official closing date. The announcement that the ski area will stay open until June follows a snowy May weekend that saw 10 inches of snowfall overnight Saturday, May 11, into Sunday, May 12.

At the moment, the Montezuma Bowl, the East Wall and the front side of A-Basin remain open, according to a news release from the ski area. A-Basin currently has a 66-inch base, which is right in line with its year-over-year average, the release states.

However, as the spring season continues the ski area asks skiers and riders to stay vigilant. With the ever-changing spring conditions, it’s important to respect all signs and closures, especially since with the warmer weather, things melt out quickly and there can be obstacles just beneath the surface of the snow that are hard to see, the release states.

Once A-Basin reaches June 1, operations will be assessed on a week-by-week basis based on weather and conditions. Last year, the ski area closed June 4.
