Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.15%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of MphasiS Ltd.(up 2.11 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 1.53 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.07 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.98 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.9 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.19 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.15 per cent up at 33122.85.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 113.8 points at 22217.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 328.48 points at 73104.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, NHPC and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Aarti Pharmalabs, Peninsula Land, HG Infra Engg, BASF India and MRO-TEK Realty hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while GSS Infotech, Medico Remedies, Future Supply Chain, IRB InvIT Fund and Mask Investments hit their fresh 52-week lows.
