Try this trick if you can’t reboot your Samsung TV

Although Tizen is one of the more stable smart TV operating systems on the market, you might sometimes find yourself in a situation where you need to fully power-cycle your Samsung TV — for example, if you get a Netflix connection error. However, in some cases, you might have trouble rebooting your Samsung TV even if you perform the correct procedure. If so, we might have a fix.

To recap, smart TVs usually go to sleep when you press the power button on the remote. They don't fully power off, so you don't have to waste time waiting for the operating system to boot up each time you power the TV back on.

    Story continues after the video…

As detailed in our previous Netflix troubleshooting guide, you can fully power-cycle Samsung TVs by long-pressing the power button on the remote while the TV is on. However, this might not always work, and your TV might enter sleep mode instead of power cycling, even if you long-press the power button. Here's how you might be able to fix it.

Your HDMI soundbar might be interfering

Although this isn't a general rule, we found that, in some cases, when using certain soundbars connected to the TV via HDMI-ARC / HDMI-eARC, this can interfere with the Samsung TV's rebooting process.

In other words, if you have a soundbar connected to your Samsung TV via HDMI and you're controlling both the TV and the soundbar through the same Samsung remote, you might be unable to fully restart the TV when you long-press the power button on the remote.

If you face this issue, the workaround might be to turn off the soundbar manually while the TV is on and then try to power-cycle the TV. Doing this should allow you to restart your Samsung TV and see the Tizen logo upon startup.
