Today’s daily digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

5/10: Monday’s sun is on the run as our “Gray May” dims the day, eventually bringing more showery gloom and mushroom boom.

Express forecast

  • Today: Mostly cloudy, increasing chance of showers. Highs: 67-73.
  • Tonight: Scattered showers, thunder? Lows: 59-63.
  • Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy, scattered showers. Highs: 64-71.

Forecast in detail

Yesterday’s pleasant weather treat is in retreat as clouds canvas our skies, setting the stage for some showers today and tomorrow, and possibly a few thunderstorms, especially later this afternoon or tonight. More showers are possible tomorrow before a modest break Thursday into part of Friday. But another storm system should bring more rain at times late Friday and Saturday.

Today (Tuesday): A light rain is possible this morning. We’ll have a better chance of scattered showers developing this afternoon. While rain could be on the light side at first, some downpours with thunder are possible late this afternoon or evening. Mostly cloudy skies hold highs to the upper 60s and low 70s. Winds are from the south at 5 to 15 mph with some higher gusts. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers. Pockets of heavier downpours and thunder are possible. Winds are from the south around 5 to 10 mph. Lows range from near 60 to the low 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly cloudy skies continue with scattered showers possible, especially during the morning into midday. Some models dry us out a bit faster, but we can’t shake the clouds either way, as highs range from the mid-60s to near 70. Winds are lighter and from the northeast at 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with scattered light showers possible, but most of the night should be dry as lows dip to the cooler upper 50s to around 60. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead

Thursday is in-between storm systems, and there is a chance for some partly sunny skies, but unfortunately it seems like partly to mostly cloudy is the safer bet. Highs are a bit warmer in the mid-70s with just an isolated shower or storm possible. Thursday night looks partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium

Friday should be cloudy with the chance of an isolated shower, until scattered showers and thunderstorms become more likely by evening and during the night. Daytime highs should reach the 70s again, followed by Friday night lows in the low to mid-60s. Confidence: Medium

As of this moment, the weekend looks like a messy start with a cloudy Saturday that includes showers, thunderstorms, and highs in the low to mid-70s. Saturday night may see a few more showers with lows in the low 60s. Sunday has a shot to dry out, perhaps evening becoming partly or mostly sunny with highs in the mid- to upper 70s. But it’s too early to completely rule out a cloudier and cooler day with a lingering shower chance. Confidence: Low-Medium
