Authorities have addressed community concerns after reports of "multiple dead animals" in Dukes Lock in the Oxford Canal.
Members of the public had claimed to have seen dead birds and animals including a hedgehog and fish floating on the surface of the canal.
They also said they had seen "a lot of" sewage seeping from the Thames through Dukes Cut.
Authorities from the Canal River Trust confirmed they had found a dead swan on the scene and the animal will be tested for traces of avian flu.
