Families and friends celebrated Mother’s Day looking up at the sky in awe at the Cherry Point Air Show.
WITN reports thousands came out to enjoy the mesmerizing displays in the air and on the ground.
“This was actually a surprise for Mother’s Day,” attendee Amanda Drangula said. “My husband bought the tickets and I looked at the date and realized it was for Mother’s Day.”
Performances ranging from the Steve Covington, to the F-35B, to New Bern native Hubie Tolson’s last public air show, were all sights to see in the clear skies with the big finale of the day being the Blue Angels.
According to Cherry Point Commanding Officer Col. Brendan Burks, about 50,000 people were in attendance Sunday.
