Grauer: Vote no one one

Basalt residents who want the Midland Avenue Streetscape Project to be finished on time, without costly change orders, should vote no on Ballot Question One.
Those who desire a pedestrian-friendly historic Main Street and upgraded infrastructure, should also vote no on One.
Those who object to parallel parking should consider its safety advantages. Some studies have shown that converting from angle to parallel parking can reduce crash rates by 19% to 63%. Parallel parking is more predictable for other drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Additional angled parking is available on the Midland Spur, with no net loss of downtown parking.
The $500 rebate for new purchases of electric bikes is also an incentive for less in-town traffic and cleaner air.
If you want to enhance the charm of the town’s historic center, with a project that is on-budget and underway, then vote no on One.
