Suspect arrested after man fatally stabbed in Encinitas

A man was fatally stabbed in Encinitas late Saturday and investigators arrested a suspect in connection with his death, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
Deputies were called to a home on Sprucewood Drive near Orangetree Court shortly after 10:10 p.m. when someone reported a stabbing. The victim was discovered outside the home, suffering from a stab wound, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Michael Krugh said.
First responders provided aid and took the injured man to a hospital, where he died. His name has not been released.
Deputies detained a suspect about a half-mile from the crime scene and later arrested him. His age and name were not immediately available.
Krugh said detectives are gathering more information about the case. Officials did not release a motive or say what led up to the stabbing.
