    What's the story

The 2024 Men's ICC T20 World Cup is set to begin on June 1 in the Caribbean and USA. As many as 20 teams will take part in the expanded tournament, comprising four groups. Over the years, several teams have scripted history with record-breaking totals. However, the tournament has also seen some low scores. Here are the lowest team totals in T20 WC history.

    #1

39: Netherlands vs Sri Lanka, 2014

Netherlands are the only side to post a score of less than 40 runs in the T20 World Cup. The Dutch were bundled out for a mere 39 against Sri Lanka in the 2014 T20 World Cup in Chattogram. Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis took three wickets each. The Lankans chased down 40 in just five overs to claim a one-sided win.

44: Netherlands vs Sri Lanka, 2021

Netherlands suffered a similar defeat to Sri Lanka in the 2021 T20 World Cup. They were bowled out for 44 before the Lankans chased it down in 7.1 overs. Colin Ackermann was the only Dutch batter to score in double figures in that match. Wanindu Hasaranga and Lahiru Kumara took three wickets each of the Lankans.

55: West Indies vs England, 2021

A star-studded West Indies side under the leadership of Kieron Pollard was humiliated by England in the 2021 T20 World Cup encounter. Spinners made merry as the Caribbeans perished for a mere 55, with Adil Rashid taking four wickets. Only Chris Gayle recorded a double-figure score for WI. England also lost four wickets but completed the run-chase in 8.2 overs.

60: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, 2014

A star-studded Sri Lankan side outclassed a number of sides before winning the T20 World Cup title in 2014. New Zealand were on the receiving end in the 30th match where they couldn't even chase down 120. SL perished for 119 before restricting the Kiwis to 60/10. Rangana Herath took five wickets for just three runs in 3.2 overs (two maidens).
