Eurovision disqualifies Dutch entry hours before charged final in Malmo

Dutch artist Joost Klein will no longer compete in Saturday night’s Eurovision grand final in Malmo due to a backstage “incident,” the European Broadcasting Union said.

MALMO, Sweden — Eurovision organizers, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), confirmed Saturday that Dutch artist Joost Klein, who is representing the Netherlands, will not be competing in Saturday night’s final. The decision came just hours before the grand final in Malmo which is hosting the contest for the third time.

“Swedish police have investigated a complaint made by a female member of the production crew after an incident following his performance in Thursday night’s semifinal,” the EBU said in a statement.
