'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?
ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.
When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.
ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.
The best Verizon deals

If you're a Verizon customer looking for a discount on a new Apple or Samsung phone, or, perhaps, a bargain carrier service deal, you're in luck.
This month, the wireless carrier is offering great sales on new mobile devices including Apple iPhones and Samsung's foldable phone range (in part to compete with rivals like AT&T and T-Mobile), all to lure consumers to sign up for new contracts or switch phone carriers. In addition, there are several internet plans and accessory deals that may pique your interest.

ZDNET scoured the carrier's portal to find the best deals at Verizon, including free handsets, attractive trade-in offers, and discounts on top-of-the-range devices. Check out more of our top picks below.
Best Verizon deals
- Samsung Galaxy S24+: Trade in and save $1,000, free tablet & smartwatch
- Google Pixel 8a: Free, new line required
- Apple iPhone 15: Up to $830 off with trade-in, free iPad
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Free with trade-in, discounted tablet and smartwatch
- Google Pixel 8 Pro: $820 off with suitable plan, trade in and save up to $1,000, free Disney Bundle for 6 months
- Verizon home internet: sign up for a $200 Target gift card, free Nintendo Switch, up to $400 off Samsung appliances
If you want to get your hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S24+, released just this year, Verizon will give you up to $1,000 off when you trade in an older, suitable device.
Verizon will also give you up to $350 off a Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and up to $550 off a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G tablet. In other words, these devices will be free with your smartphone purchase, as long as you are happy to sign up for a new line.

Furthermore, this purchase entitles you to Verizon's "Disney Bundle" (Disney+ (no ads), Hulu (with ads), and ESPN+ (with ads) for free, for six months.
Apple's latest iPhone 15 range -- the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max -- is on offer at Verizon, and there are some excellent options to choose from.
The best deal is for the entry-level iPhone 15. You can enjoy a discount of up to $830 off a new model (therefore, free, with 128GB storage) when you sign up for a new line (applied in bill credits). Alternatively, you can also take advantage of the same discount with a suitable trade-in.
You can also pick up a free Apple iPad or take $120 off an Apple Watch, as long as you're willing to sign up for a new line (terms apply). Furthermore, on the right line, Verizon will give you a free 65-inch 4K Amazon Fire TV.
As we noted in our hands-on review, the new Google Pixel 8a is a mid-range and supremely affordable phone sporting a quality display and solid performance -- and is available in a range of bright color options.
This mobile device is currently available for pre-order. To kick off the smartphone's launch, Verizon will give you this device for free if you sign up for an Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus, or Unlimited Ultimate plan. In addition, the company will give you a free Google Pixel Watch 2 or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 can be picked up for free if you trade in an eligible device (up to $1,000 in bill credits) and sign up for a 5G Unlimited Plus plan.
Buying a 5G Android smartphone from Verizon will give you $550 off a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G and $350 off a Samsung Galaxy Watch6 (new line and service plan required).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also available with offers at Verizon.
Trading in an older device and upgrading grants you a discount of up to $1,000, applied in credit over 36 months. When you buy this smartphone, you can also take advantage of up to $350 off a Galaxy Watch6, or $550 off a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G.
The device is available in three colors outside of ordering directly from Samsung (where two exclusive colors are available): icy blue, phantom black, and cream.
The Google Pixel Fold has quirks, but ZDNET experts still consider the device a worthy competitor to established Samsung smartphone lines. While there are limited multitasking capabilities, this device is for you if you want a wide aspect ratio and reasonable battery life on a foldable phone.
Over at Verizon, you can enjoy up to $1,000 off the typical RRP when you trade in a suitable device -- or a discount of $900 when you agree to sign up for an Unlimited Plus or Ultimate plan.
If you purchase one, Verizon will also give you a free Google Pixel Watch 2, a discounted Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and a free 65-inch Amazon Fire TV.

How did we choose these Verizon deals?
When we chose our top Verizon deals, we wanted to include options based on the following criteria:
- Value: The deal had to offer good value for money, especially when it comes to trade-in offers or discounts applied to new handsets, tablets, or entertainment products.
- Affordability: Everything feels so expensive these days, and we're stretching our budgets farther and farther to accommodate the rising prices of goods. With this in mind, we have included products suitable for a range of budgets.
- Variety: We require a diverse range of products to be available, suiting different users and their needs.
- Free products: Devices drop in value over time, and in order to offload excess stock, some carriers will launch time-sensitive deals, giving subscribers free products in exchange for signing up for a new contract.
- Events: It's always worth checking retailers after a major event, such as Samsung Unpacked. You will often find that deals will be launched just after, luring customers to agree to preorder their new handset in return for discounts and free storage upgrades.
