Kucharczyk: Old Town Basalt is not Willits
Do we really want to turn downtown Basalt into a mini Willits? We need less traffic and congestion on Midland Avenue, not more. Willits is designed for heavy traffic and big parking lots. That vision does not fit our historical small town of Basalt.
Let’s keep downtown Basalt a place that is safe for pedestrians and bicyclists — be they “locals” or visitors. Vote “No” on Issue No. 1, and let’s move Basalt’s Streetscape project forward.
